Undergraduate Researcher | Rehabilitation Sciences
Alejandra Hernández Rodríguez is an undergraduate researcher pursuing a B.S. in Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). She maintains a 4.00 GPA with consistent Dean's List recognition and aspires to a career combining physical therapy and neurorehabilitation research.
At N’MORE, Alejandra serves as the undergraduate research lead on our exercise-priming study, investigating how different modes and intensities of aerobic exercise influence motor-cortical excitability and inhibition. She has developed proficiency in transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and helps train new student researchers in neurophysiological methods. She also plays a key role in accelerometry data processing and video-based annotation to support machine learning approaches for measuring rehabilitation treatment content after stroke.
Alejandra presented her exercise-priming research at UTEP's 2026 COURI Summer Symposium and is a co-author on three abstracts accepted for the 2027 APTA Combined Sections Meeting (CSM). These studies examine exercise-induced changes in motor-cortical physiology, transcranial alternating current stimulation and grip-force control, and accelerometry-based measurement of rehabilitation treatment content after stroke.
Beyond her scientific work, Alejandra has served as the lead student organizer of N’MORE's Walktober community outreach initiative in 2025 and 2026, promoting movement, stroke recovery awareness, and inclusive participation. She also contributes to community health screenings and STEM outreach activities, reflecting her commitment to connecting rehabilitation research with the communities it serves.
