Walktober is back for 2026! 🔥

Movement. Recovery. Resilience.

Every year, during October, the UTEP Department of Physical Therapy & Movement Sciences hosts a month-long movement challenge for the UTEP and El Paso communities in celebration of Physical Therapy Month and World Stroke Day on October 29. This challenge is Walktober.

What is Walktober?

Walktober is a simple, inclusive movement challenge where you can walk, roll, wheel, cycle, swim, do seated marches, arm cycle, dance, or move in whatever way works for you.
More than counting steps or minutes, Walktober is a celebration of movement, recovery, community, and the role movement plays in helping people stay active and resilient in life.

How do you participate?

  • Register as an individual or create a team with classmates, colleagues, friends, or family.
  • Move your way throughout the week.
  • Track your activity in steps or minutes moved.
  • Report your totals each Friday by 5 PM Mountain Time using the same link.
  • Click here to follow the weekly Leaderboard!, join in the friendly competition, and be eligible for prizes
Follow along throughout Walktober on Instagram: @utep_dpt
We’ll be sharing:
  • Weekly leaderboards
  • Team highlights
  • Community activities
  • PT Month moments
  • World Stroke Day content
  • Walktober stories
Tag @utep_dpt, @utepcollegeofhealthsciences, and use #Walktober2026 so we can follow along and share how the El Paso community is moving.
Last year, Walktober covered enough miles to walk from El Paso to Austin and back. 🫡

How far will we go this year? 🔥

Come join the tradition! 🧡
